Save the date this Thursday for SF Hotplate during Drums in the Lead at SF Jazz Center when Jaz Sawyer plays a tribute to Roy Haynes Trio and album “We Three” during two concerts at 7 & 8:30pm, Joe Henderson Lab.

Acclaimed drummer Jaz Sawyer starts the season’s Hotplate series with a salute to drumming legend Roy Haynes and his landmark 1959 New Jazz album “We Three” together with Sawyer’s distinguished trio including: Jaz Sawyer • drums and bandleader, Ewell David • bass and Grant Levin • piano.

“This will be my 5th time performing at the Joe Henderson lab since 2014. Paying homage to the 1959 classic album “We Three”, featuring virtuoso pianist Phineas Newborn, Jr.”
